Drawing and Painting

ART - - - a t - s p e e d - - -

This "Stuff" is my artwork. I dabble a bit in drawing and painting, mostly drawing (because the supplies cost less.)

I've sold a few of my pen/ink drawings over the years. If you like what you see and think you might like to commission me to do one of your own, drop me an e-mail.

TECHNIQUE

I developed this drawing technique with the hope that I could communicate two very important elements.

  • I wanted to show the Effort of Speed
    • I'd define the Effort of Speed as:
      • That which makes a person driving a race-car more than just a race-car-driver, they are a RACER.
      • The dedication to the risk.
      • The dedication to the corner.
      • Not the point where the driver has perhaps tried "too hard" but where they have tried just hard enough to make the most of the moment.

- AND -

  • I wanted to get a dual viewing effect where:
    • At a moderate distance you might believe you are viewing a black and white photograph,
    • And when you get closer you see that it is made up of thousands of individual pen strokes, each painstakingly rendered with precise weight, thickness, direction, and love. (Yes folks, I said "love." I care for each and every pen stroke in a way that is difficult to describe.)
