Part 2 - Old BMC Autocross Video

This is Part 2 of a series of videos of autocrossing from the mid 70's at the Dravo shipyard in Wilmington, DE. The film belongs to the Jacobson family that own and operate Sports Car Service in Wilmington.

In this part, we can see that Bill Jacobson has fitted yet another wheel & tire package to his Sonett in search of the fast time. Accordingly, his competition in the black and orange Formula V has developed some sort of monster intake system.

Take special note of the diesel powered Mercedes hot rod. My Dad thinks there is a good possibility that car still exists.  The story goes, the owner was blind in one eye. He had a friend who was blind in the other eye. So long as the correct person was sitting on the correct side of the car, they could operate as a smooth running team. If they swapped positions however, look out!

I just uploaded Part 1 of a series of videos of autocrossing from the mid 70's. This part is footage of a Brandywine Motorsports Club (BMC) event in 1976 at the Dravo shipyard in Wilmington, DE. The film belongs to the Jacobson family that own and operate Sports Car Service in Wilmington. They and their black SAAB Sonett III feature heavily in the film.
